BARCELONA IN 3 DAYS / CITY TRIP TIPS

One of my favorite cities in the world and the perfect city for grabbing your things and go.

I love Spain. I’ve been everywhere in Spain. And I absolutly love Barcelona. I can totally imagine living there.

So today I’m sharing all of my tips for a perfect weekend getaway to Barcelona!

First things first.. Plan your hotel right. It should be right in the middle of Barcelona. We stayed in the Roma Reial Hotel. A very small but excellent hotel right next to the Ramblas. If your hotel is in the right place, you can do everything in a short period of time.

When we arrived we didn’t have a tranfer but in almost every place there are special buses or train from and to the airport. We went with the Aerobus which brought us at a 5 minute walk from our hotel. Cost about €10,20 for a retour ticket.

On the second day we rented a bike which I very recommend. It will get you to see so much more. It cost us about €6 for 1 day. We wanted to rent these cool scooters but both my boyfriend and I didn’t have our driving license so that wasn’t an option but the bikes did great.

Barcelona Beaches

Barcelona has many great beaches and we tried all of them. For drinks go to the W Hotel and you will feel all posh. We had a picnic at the most famous and busiest beach; Barceloneta. Don’t spend much time on this beach though. It’s famous for people stealing your stuff and it’s a very crowded, dirty beach. If you do want to swim in the ocean or lay on the beach all day I recommend grabbing your bike and go to Bogatell. Don’t go to far though because right next to Bogatell there is a nude beach; Marbella. Unless that’s what your looking for.

If you want to party? Go to Port Olympic. It has some of the most famous clubs. Also nice for a little cocktail but keep in mind your paying a little more.

Barcelona (and most of spain) has a nice long boulevard you can stroll around and is nice for night walking.

FOOD

In Spain the locals always eat late. So be sure to do that to. The best neighborhoods to grab something to eat are Gracia & El Born. Great places filled with locals eating paella at 10pm on the streets. For the best tapas go to Sants Montjuic. Very cheap prices for delicious authentic tapas!

Need lunch or food for your picnic? Go to the famous market: La Boqueria. Right on the Ramblas. Be sure to go there early so your avoiding the crowd.

Also search for Sky bars etc. to have drinks with a view. Every city has many of them.

Shopping

Of course you can spend time going into every Zara or Mango. It will fill up a whole day since there is one on literally every corner!

In the gothic neighborhood there are little stores with authentic things. On Passeig de Gracia you find the most expensive stores like Chanel and Nike. If you want a nice warehouse go to El Corte Ingles right on the corner of  Catalunya Square. On the side street of Catalunya there is a street called Carrer dels Tallers where you find some local clothing stores and there is a Sephora!

Things to see

Spend 1 whole day sight seeing starting at;

La Ramblas; The famous touristic street. Stroll around but don’t buy anything and be sure to watch your bag!

Then walk across Catalunya square to Passeig de Gracia to see the Famous gaudi buildings.

Walk all the way though the neighborhood Gracia to Parc Guell. Be sure to book tickets for this park in advance so you don’t have to stand in line for 4 hours.

If you’re done visiting the park walk up to Sagrada Familia. The never finished church.

Walk over to Parc de La Ciutadella to see the amazing fountain!

Go photographing the beautiful Gothic neighborhood and having a drink at square Placa Reial.

Lastly grab some snacks and go to Parc Montjuic to watch the amazing fountains and have a beautiful end of your day.
